My Goals for Week Without Walls

Being in the maintenance group in week without walls what i mainly want to do is maintain stuff. including building a fence, which would be fun becaue i like manual labour. i also like gardening so i guess that is also something which i would do, because putting life into  the ground is pretty cool for me. pulling life out is also rather cool.like weeds and stuff

UN Day - October 14th

The theme for this years UN day was childrens rights, and it was up to MUN to organize activities and games in order to help spread awareness about it. So as a member of MUN, me and my fellow MUNers had to create and organize the activities for UN Day

The 1st Habitat for Humanity Build

For the first Habitat Build, we travelled to village south of Colombo to help build a house. We had to fill in a foundation and build the walls for a new toilet. To fill up the foundation, we shovelled dirt from this mound into these large pans which we then carried to the foundation and dumped it in. The foundation was about 6x4 feet in area and about 2 feet deep, and although we initailly thought that this job would be easy, it was extremely tiring. My arms hurt and had to take a lot of breaks, and not only did we have to fill up the hole, we had to spread out the dirt evenly.

My Goals of this Year

For my CAS, what I hope to acheive by the end of this school year is:
For Creativity - Participate in the Model United Nations.
Learn how to cook food from different cultures.
For Action - Improve my Swimming
Learn Archery
For Service - Help in Habitat for Humanity, an organisation that builds houses for people who cannot afford them(involves some action, too)

My previous experience in these things:
The only thing I have real experience in is swimming which I have been doing for about 4 years, although it hasn't been very intensive training and my butterfly stroke needs a lot of work.
My cooking skills are very basic, I can make simple dishes and i know most of the cooking procedures, it's just that i don't know very many recipes and i'm not skilled enough to improvise dishes.
My archery is also very basic since i have only been learning it for about 2 months at the Colombo Archery Centre.
I have never really built houses before, but i have mixed cement and shovelled and stuff like that.
I have never taken part in MUN before and it will be a completely new experience for me
